Dad Day | Sunday Sonnet

“Now listen here”, my Dad says,
“You must always try your best.”
These words ring on through days,
That I am feeling so depressed.

Like a giant standing tall,
My Dad, he never lets me down.
When he was all there was to call,
On and was the only one around.

Today we celebrate our Dads,
But sorry to all the rest-
He’s saved my life; I’m surely glad,
My Dad is still the best.

I love you Dad; You top the clouds.
I pray that I can make you proud.

Happy Father’s Day!

  1. Oh, beautifully written, such a great homage! You have no idea how much I can relate these words to my deceased father. Especially these:

““You must always try your best.”
These words ring on through days,
That I am feeling so depressed.”

and this: “My Dad, he never lets me down.”

I wrote a poem when he died: https://momentsbloc.wordpress.com/2016/06/14/last-moments/

and also created this dance: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_gd8gOQ-gMw&t=10s
