When I see you again

(Side note before reading) This is a poem I wrote when under section three of the mental health act, institutionalised within a low secure PICU mixed adolescent ward. I have no recollection of writing it, but just found it in my ‘hospital folder’. I think it has some meaning in it, and I look forward to reading it back myself in the future, as a sort of psychological study. Anyway, I hope you enjoy. Or don’t; I don’t really care.

My faithful friend
Until the end
When I open my eyes
I’m full of surprise
When I see you again

You’re never far
Not high nor low
You’re like a scarf
You’re like a rose
You keep me warm
I’ll keep you close
When I see you again

My friends whisper to me in the dark.
