My Ward

Six, lying alone far from home,
chilled to the bone
and frightened of fighting for something not worth while

One is in agony crying for the nurse ,
calling a hurse praying for  a needle to settle his curse

Five, lying alone far from home,
chilled to the bone
and frightened of fighting for something that causes us pain

One is frail; alone in his mind
and fighting to bind his fate from which his family cannot find

Four, lying alone far from home,
chilled to the bone
and frightened of fighting for something that bleaches our souls

One is frightened unknowing of truth;
mourning his youth; fear takes his courage and his help he’ll refuse

Three, lying alone far from home,
chilled to the bone
and frightened of fighting for something that will chain our freedom

One is confused, forgetting his past,
and emitting his last as his old lungs breath in and out slower and fast

Two lying alone far from home,
chilled to the bone
and frightened of fighting for something that has only one end

One is tearful watching his family leave,
tugging their sleeve he watches them go spouting nonsensical pleads

One, lying alone far from home,
chilled to the bone
and frightened of fighting for something not wanted

One is me,
Scanning the room and watching them suffer through indeed
I feel regretful in my actions as they did not succeed
for now I must live in a life that’s supreme
Because my body would not fulfil my minds awful dream
